Just another Mommieblogs.com weblog

We may be country, but at least we’re cozy

The pellet stove is working overtime as we, like a large chunk of North America, are in a cold snap. Why I have it on good authority (because I looked) that the other night it was a frigid -30 C outside at 3:30 in the AM.

And why was I up? Well, I was awakened by the lack of noise eminating from our lovely pellet stove. It has a fan blowing constantly, a white noise level that usually bothers me when I watch tv in the next room, but its absence now seems strange. So I woke right up.

We got a new brand of pellets to try out, and they burned so hot it set off a sensor somewhere inside the stove and it shut down. So there we were, 4 am and not an awake child in sight, but a stove in need of tending. “I thought we were done with this,” I asked the hubby. Guess not. We finished giving the stove a clean and watched the flames.

It occured to me in the wee hours that pellets come in a wide array of bag types and maybe I should start a collection. I already have a winner. The star attraction (over the one with the typo of wool pellets too). To whit:

Bag of pellets

Someone has a sense of humour. I am not sure any further commentary is neded.

We did see why they are called White Lightening. We also saw some blue and even green flames as it burned hot and bright.
